Events and Groups
Special Needs Parents Night Out
This is a free event for parents of children with special needs ages 1 - 17. We want to give our members an evening off for some alone time, and in return, we receive the blessing of working with and knowing your children. Child care and food will also be provided for siblings who are 12 years old and younger.
If we do not already have a Special Needs Student Form on file, you must complete and update one when you arrive.
First Friends Connect for Adults
We are a ministry for adults with special needs ages 18 and older. We host fun nights throughout the year called First Friends Connect!
See the calendar below for upcoming events.
First Friends Parents Meetings
Connect with other parents of special needs children and learn from experts about services, guardianship, and more! Starting Sept. 3, meetings will occur on the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 - 7:45 a.m. Childcare will be provided for kids with special needs and their siblings, and we will also have fellowship opportunities for adults with special needs.
- Sept. 3: We will have Lakes Regional coordinators here to share information about benefits for individuals with special needs, including counseling, work training, respite, and more!
- Oct. 1: Wende Harthorne, a lawyer specializing in guardianship, will discuss the guardianship process with us and answer any questions you may have.
- Nov. 4: Take Me Home—Lt. Tracy West will present the Take Me Home program for Kaufman County. He will answer questions and help guardians enroll.

Wonderfully Made
Our special needs prom is on February 6, 2026.
Opportunity to Serve
Wonderfully Made (formerly Night to Shine) requires the help of many volunteers and is a wonderful way to connect with and serve our community of people with special needs! From serving as a guest's buddy or member of the red carpet paparazzi, to keeping the enthusiasm up on the dance floor or serving food, there is something for everyone.
To serve at Wonderfully Made, you must register and receive a background check. Those under 18 need parental consent to serve, and servers under 14 need special permission from Kacey Jackson, Special Needs Minister. This is to keep all those who serve and honored guests safe.
If you have any questions, contact Kacey Jackson at kjackson@fbcforney.org.
