What to Expect

Here at First Baptist Forney we offer a Christ-centered environment with a person-centered emphasis that enables us to focus on the entire family's spiritual growth. We view special needs as a different ability rather than a disability. We believe it is all part of God’s plan to care, love and welcome children with special needs into our church fellowship and community.

Therefore, we consider it a privilege to offer this ministry and would love to speak with you regarding the needs of your child.

At FB Forney we currently offer an inclusion-buddy system and self-contained learning environment.

SUNDAY LIFEGROUP CLASSES

Birth - Age 17:
Special Needs Children's LifeGroup Class held on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Special Needs Suite, Room D021.

Adult Bible LifeGroup for Families of Special Needs meets 9:15 a.m. upstairs in Room D214.

Ages 18+:
Adults with Special Needs LifeGroup class meets at 9:15 a.m. in the Special Needs Suite, Room D015.

Special Needs Parents Night Out

This is a community-wide free event for parents of children with special needs ages 1 - 17. We want to provide parents with an evening off for some alone time, and in return, we receive the blessing of working with and knowing your children. Child care and food will also be provided for siblings who are 12 years old and younger.

Our next PNO is TBA.

If we do not already have a Special Needs Student Form on file, you must complete and update one when you arrive.

First Friends Connect for Adults

We are a ministry for adults with special needs ages 18 years and older.

We host fun nights throughout the year called First Friends Connect!

Night to Shine

We are an official host church for the Feb. 13, 2026 Night to Shine!

Night to Shine is a complimentary event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. The event is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older. Some cornerstone activities included are a red carpet entrance complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi, hair and makeup stations, karaoke, gifts, a catered dinner, a Sensory Room, a Respite Room for parents and caregivers, dancing, and a crowning ceremony where every guest is honored as a King or a Queen - the way God sees them each and every day.

Opportunity to Serve

Night to Shine requires the help of many, many volunteers and is a wonderful way to connect with and serve our community of people with special needs! From serving as a guest's buddy or member of the red carpet paparazzi, to keeping the enthusiasm up on the dance floor or serving food, there is something for everyone.

To volunteer at Night to Shine, you will register and receive a background check. Volunteers under age 18 need parental consent to volunteer. Volunteers under age 14 need special consent from Kacey Jackson, Special Needs Minister. This is to keep all volunteers and honored guests safe.

Parents Day/Night Out Volunteers

Our Special Needs Ministry is dedicated to meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of special needs children / teens and their families. We offer several community-wide, free Parents Night Out (PNO) dates throughout the year where your children are cared for in a loving and fun environment while parents enjoy a night out! This is for ages 0 to 17. Child care and food will also be provided for siblings who are 12 years old and younger.
